‘Watch ya back’: queer creator flooded with threats after influencer’s callout

Article written 30 May 2025 for QNews.

It started with a post. Then came the alleged death threats.

Kristie, a queer mother and the creative force behind Indifferent Avocado, a small handmade business known for its unapologetically progressive art and advocacy, has spent the past week living in fear.

Her phone and social media accounts have been flooded with hate.

She’s allegedly received messages threatening to harm her and her child.

Her accounts have been mass reported by a coordinated group of anti-LGBTQIA+, anti-abortion trolls driven by a level of hatred that’s genuinely frightening.

The wave began after a video was posted by Charlie Bakhos, a religious influencer. He has a history of asking his 50k followers to complain to businesses or organisations who post content that isn’t in line with his beliefs.

In the video posted to his followers on Instagram, he singled out Kristie’s business saying “whoever wants to, complain to them on their Instagram page”.

He showed her face and business. He shared her personal phone number. He told his followers to report her.

They did.
